Breaking In

Like many writers now working in television, my career didn’t follow the
traditional path up through the ranks from staff writer to showrunner. So l’m
well aware or the challenges that new writers face. My writing career began
as a playwright. A successful Los Angeles theatre production led to work in
feature development. Then with the new golden age of television that began
with Breaking Bad and Mad Men. I found that doors were opening for writers
from other disciplines and I began pitching and selling pilots.

The Art of More

In 2014 I sold my series, The Art of More to Sony TV. Starring Dennis Quaid, Kate Bosworth and Cary Elwes, it was the first one-hour scripted drama on Sony’s new streaming network, Crackle. The show, which deals with the dark underbelly of the New York auction world was heralded as the “best new drama on TV” by Harper’s Bazaar. The New York Times raved, “A tasty new drama. The casting is delicious, the characters and their stories grow more complex with each episode.” Seasons one and two are now available on Amazon.

Universal TV

The Art of More’s critical and commercial success led to other development work as well as an overall deal at Universal Television.  Since then I’ve sold shows to NBC, ABC, Fox 21, CBSViacom, Warner Brothers, Skydance, MGM/Amazon, and continue to work in features, with projects in development at Mandalay Films and Mind’s Eye Entertainment.  My novel, Head Games, was sold to ABC with Academy Award-winner Viola Davis executive producing.

Teaching and Coaching

I’m a graduate of the Writer’s Guild of America’s prestigious Showrunner Training Program, been a guest speaker at UCLA and have consulted for writers and studios in the U.S. and abroad.  I’m the producer and host of the WGA’s ongoing training seminar, The Rewrite Stuff.  Among my guests have been Vince Gilligan, Judd Apatow, Matt Weiner, Neil LaBute and many other distinguished writers.

Writers helping other writers is a maxim that I firmly believe in.  I started this company with one main goal – to help writers craft a better pitch and script, and greatly improve their chances of selling it.  I want my clients to succeed and remain committed to helping them as they move forward with their  careers.
